Code of Conduct
At Peak ICT, while we enjoy learning and having a good time, we place the highest priority on providing a safe environment with minimal distractions for our students. To that end, we ask that anyone coming to the class—whether to participate or observe—adhere to the following guidelines:
Anyone, student or observer, caught bullying another person will be evicted immediately from the classroom for the day. No exceptions. Depending on the situation and nature of the offense, they may be barred permanently from class at the instructor's discretion.
Students
Students arriving after bow-in will line up at the back of class, regardless of rank.Students should wear their full uniform with their belt tied properly when class starts.
The uniform should be clean and neat for class.
Students may not wear street clothes (e.g. jeans, cargo shorts, polo shirts) under their uniform. They may, however, wear athletic clothing under their uniform.
No footwear of any kind (except foot gear for sparring) is allowed during class.
Most jewelry is not allowed.
Fitness watches are allowed depending on the size.
Stud earrings are okay for regular class work. No hoop earrings or anything that hangs down.
Wedding bands and rings with a low profile are allowed for regular class work. Rings with a large profile are not allowed.
In general, if you have to ask, you should probably remove it before class.
For safety reasons, no jewelry of any kind is allowed during sparring.
Exceptions:
Students are allowed to wear approved T-shirts in class with their uniform pants and belt. Students must wear their full uniform for belt promotions.
New students who do not yet have a uniform won't be held to this, but a uniform must be purchased prior to their first test.
For dedicated sparring class (see the calendar), a uniform is optional, but you must wear athletic clothing if you do not wear your uniform.
Observers
Those observing class should stay within designated viewing areas.
Please do not interrupt the instructor. Also, please do not interact with the students while they are training; it will distract them.
Set mobile phones and devices to quiet/vibrate mode.
Keep audience discussion quiet and to a minimum.
If you must have a discussion with someone either on the phone or in person, please take it outside of the classroom.
Sparring
At Peak ICT, we teach and train in Olympic Sport Taekwondo. As such, we follow the rules and guidelines and rules set forth by the World Taekwondo organization.
Students are not required to spar full-contact until reaching the green with a stripe rank. However, students wishing to spar full-contact before then may do so provided they have the proper gear.
Contacting the head is not allowed for no- and light-contact sparring.
Students without gear wishing to spar light contact must both agree to use light contact.
When sparring no- or light-contact, it is highly recommended that all students wear a mouth guard and that male students wear a cup. For full-contact sparring, a mouth guard is required for all students, and a cup is mandatory for male students.
